Important Notice

• Heat welding (heat sealing) is necessary for pouch making with plastic film.
  Totani's pouch making machines are constructed with an electric heating wire type cartridge heater (for both cross heat sealers and longitudinal heat sealers ) inserted into the block, which is responsible for heat sealing. However, the fixing screws that secure the cartridge heaters to the heater block can loosen due to temperature changes or vibration.
  When the fixing screw loosens and the heating element of the cartridge heater is exposed from the heater block, it directly touches the silicon sponge attached to prevent burns, which has been reported in a small number of cases of ignition*. In addition to the risk of ignition, the operator may be injured.
  
  *Ignition cases have only been reported in pouch making machines that were delivered more than 10 years ago.
  In pouch making machines manufactured in recent years, measures have been taken such as removal of silicon sponge and improvement of the fixing method of cartridge heaters, and no case of ignition has been reported.
• In order to ensure safe operation of the pouch making machine, we request our customers to not only visually inspect the cartridge heater mounting part but also perform periodic inspections once a year, regardless of the production year or the structure of the cartridge heater fixing screw.

The cartridge heater fixing screws on older pouch making machines are located at the positions indicated by the arrows in the photo. Although there are differences depending on the type of heater block, there is always one fixing screw position per heater.

The fixing structure of the cartridge heater to the heater block differs depending on the production year of the pouch making machine. Photo #2 shows the position of the cartridge heater fixing screw on a pouch making machine of a newer production year.
